Frederick Charles Fisher was born in Woolpit on 23rd September 1888, (Stow Q4-1888 4A:710) baptised in Woolpit St Mary on 15th November 1888, son
of William and Amelia FISHER (née RUDDOCK).
1891 census...Aged 2, he was at Cottage in Bull yard, Woolpit with his father William Fisher [40] labourer born Stanningfield; his mother Amelia [39]; sisters Ada [14], Maude [10], Elizabeth [9], Gertrude [5] and Adelaide [1]; brothers Henry [12], Johnson [7] and William [6]. All except his father were born in Woolpit. Admitted to Woolpit National School on 17th July 1893 when living at Bull Yard, left 21st June 1899 1901 census...Aged 12, he was at Heathfield, Woolpit with his parents (father now brickmaker, mother recorded as born Bradfield Combust); brothers William J (Johnson?) [17] and William J [16] both brickmaker's labourers, and Thomas F [9] and sister Daisy M [8] both born in Woolpit. 1911 census...Aged 24, single, a brickmaker, he was in Flempton, barding with Walter and Laura PALMER. He married Alice SPALDING (b.16-1-1887) in 1915. Their daughter Bessie Adelaide was born on 14th October 1916. The family home was in Mill Road, Hengrave according to the pension card. |
| He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
In the absence of his Army service record there is no way of telling where or when he was wounded. He died in Sheffield General Hospital from his wounds. |
